Kristina Pearson became involved with CranioSacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute in the early 1980s. She took a rigorous examination to become a certified CST practitioner in 1997. Kristina has been involved in alternative medicine for over 45 years, and her style has been greatly influenced by Dr. John Upledger and his teachings. She had the privilege to study directly with Dr. John Upledger and he encouraged her to be mindful of her unique capacity for this work. He wanted her to be more aware of her innate sensitivities and not shy away from being a sensitive person and therapist. Kristina has been an teaching assistant for Upledger CST classes, and leader of a CST peer-study group in Charlotte for several years in the early 1990s. Kristina moved to San Diego in 1997 to pursue her love of alternative medicine and embarked on a 4-year curriculum in acupuncture, completing a Masters of Science from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2003. While attending school she developed a painless Japanese style of acupuncture and a love of traditional Chinese Medicine herbal formulas. Kristina supported herself while in school with a private practice in CST. After graduating from PCOM, she did her post grad internship at a very active pain management clinic in San Diego, California.
Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from Columbia University, Teachers College,in New York City, where she specialized in psychological and remedial techniques for children with Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder(LD/ADD/ADHD). Her undergraduate work was in Psychology and Interpersonal Communications.
In 1995, Kristina became certified in Somatic Movement Therapy (SMT) after an intensive 2-year Movement Therapy training with Dr. Martha Eddy,PhD. in Massachusetts. SMT incorporates the findings of occupational therapist, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen,O.T. who's work authenticates the body's ability to heal through developmental 'repatterning' techniques of 'Body-Mind Centering'.
In 1996, Dr. Christine Hughes, M.D.,of Presbyterian Hospital,Charlotte North Carolina, hired Kristina Pearson to be the clinic's primary CranioSacral Therapist for their Integrative medicine program. This program was an innovative collaboration between doctors, acupuncturist, physical therapists, social workers, and bodywork therapists. Presbyterian Hospital Matthews sponsored Kristina Pearson in teaching a class called "Qi Gong for the Handi-Capable". This class was taught at the hospital for those with post-stroke and post-polio conditions.
Presbyterian's collaborative approach to medicine allowed her to work along side MDs with complex chronic pain management including: chronic disease; neurological disorders such as post concussion syndrome, digestive disorders; and post surgical pain.License Number
