Ian Thomas

BA, LMT

Ian graduated Cum Laude from Rollins College with a degree in Biology in 2004. Focused on finding out what he believed society needed most, he first studied Ecology, because the environmental sustainability is an important issue. Recognizing that it is difficult for a person to value the environment when one's own health or that of a family member is failing, Ian took a job as a technician in a Genetics lab that could support our understanding of how genes are turned on and off, which has implications in cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other diseases. When he learned that Massage Therapy can support the body's immune system to reduce cancer, heart disease and diabetes, without the use of toxic chemicals used in research, he became a Massage Therapist in 2007.

Introduced to Restorative Practices and Nonviolent Communication, Ian believed that teaching in a way that listens to the feelings and needs of the students could create a framework that reduces stress on the body, allowing the immune system to function more effectively and create an overall, more peaceful and informed society. He tutored science and math at Delaware County Community College for a year with positive student reviews and took education classes at West Chester University. Ian became disillusioned with the restrictions imposed within a classroom and desired to focus on supporting more connected and empathic human beings rather than the teaching of Biology.

Ian became introduced to Supreme Science Qigong and became trained up to a Level 3 instructor. The answer had changed to what society needed most: releasing a consciousness of disconnection and otherness and embracing a consciousness of connection and unity that allows for peaceful interactions and cooperation needed for solving any problem that may arise. When we are connected to our energetic essence beyond our physical form, we can more deeply recognize our connection to all living beings.

Entering CranioSacral Therapy gave Ian an opportunity to utilize the skills of Nonviolent Communication, energetic presence of Qigong and focus on supporting the healing processes of the body and mind. It introduced him to Healing From the Core, which was designed to teach therapeutic presence to CranioSacral Therapists and supports releasing unhealthy emotional charges, bringing us into greater connection with ourselves and others. Another gift of CranioSacral Therapy is that it brought Rachel Benbow on his path, who is the founder of The Roots of Health, where he now works.
